Last source review: 2026-10-26 · America/Los_Angeles
No combined “waste” total. Rates, commitments and payments are different categories. Insurance and reimbursement have not been verified, so none of these is asserted as a net taxpayer cost. No individual vote is inferred from a payment.

Reported settlement commitmentAccount for future payments to Rose Tagnesi
Period: Settlement approved November 2025 (reported December 2)
Payments over two decades; not an immediate $700,000 payment directly to Tagnesi.
Discrimination was alleged, not established by a trial verdict in this account. The district and Woods said the settlement did not admit wrongdoing or validate the claims and was intended to limit litigation costs.

June meeting reporting; July increase described in opinion · 2026-06
Times of San Diego reports a June 2026 athletics infusion of $1,785,558 and an unsuccessful Fite amendment to add library funding. Chris Fite’s October 5 opinion column describes about $1.9 million in June and nearly $4 million after July. We have not reconciled the adopted resolutions, fund restrictions, annual versus one-time scope or actual payments. These figures are not interchangeable or included in a cost total.
Response / later developmentThe reporting describes coaches’ safety and funding arguments and Shield’s concerns about revisions. Fite’s account is an interested trustee’s opinion, not an independently verified budget. The October librarian agreement now commits to 2027–28 reinstatement; spending disagreements do not prove a fabricated deficit.
